Myofascial Release Techniques and Craniosacral Therapy Techniques
0Licensed massage therapist and practitioner, John Hoffmann introduces a massage technique called myofascial release in his new instructional video available on the Aesthetic VideoSource website. The instructional DVD can be used as a source of myofascial release training for massage therapists who want to learn about the technique and how to practice it themselves. Many massage therapists today practice this technique for the purpose of alleviating pain and creating healthy changes in the soft tissues of the body. The DVD, Myofascial Release Techniques, demonstrates how and why myofascial release works along with informative analogies, which makes the information easy to grasp for both the layman and the expert. Hoffmann explains that fascia is a layer of connective tissue that envelopes the body, similar to a mesh bag. Over time, the wear and tear that comes with our bodies being in constant motion can have the “mesh bag” looking like an old blanket, complete with loose and disconnected strings. Myofascial release techniques help to smooth out the fiber and quite literally, mold your body back into shape. Hoffmann has been practicing in the Los Angeles area for about 15 years and works with private clients and provides complimentary treatment in chiropractic offices. He claims “Myofascial release can be utilized to promote general well-being as well as addressing specific injuries or trauma that the body has sustained.”
John Hoffmann also offers craniosacral therapy training in his instructional DVD on the subject. These techniques, as you might have guessed, focus on the cranium and the sacrum through providing slight pressure on these areas. In Hoffmann’s instructional DVD, Craniosacral Therapy Techniques, he demonstrates how the technique affects all of the following systems: the spinal column, the spinal cord, the network of nerves diverging from the spinal cord, the connective tissue involved between the bones of the vertebral column and the spinal cord as well as the cerebrospinal fluid of the body. When any of these systems aren’t working properly or the craniosacral flow is inhibited, it can cause illness, pain and dysfunction. In the DVD, Hoffman explains how each of these systems is affected by the craniosacral therapy and how it positively influences the overall function of the body. John Hoffmann holds two Bachelor’s degrees and has been educated in Craniosacral Therapy at the Institute of Psycho-Structural balancing in California. He testifies “The focus of craniosacral therapy is to assess and palpate the fluidity of the craniosacral system, which affects the body’s overall state of health.”
John Hoffmann continues to develop his techniques and discover new ones along the way. One of his specialties is NeuroMuscular Re-education. Hoffmann states “Through this technique, the practitioner introduces movement through the client’s body to activate nervous system responses. Affecting physical changes in muscle tissue, this technique produces great results including increased range of motion, relief of chronic tension, and improved body awareness. The theory behind the technique is quite simple. Yet, the results are quite profound.”
