“For the third consecutive year, the overall growth in cosmetic surgery continues to be driven by a significant rise in minimally-invasive procedures”, said Dr. Gregory Evans, M.D., President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) is the world’s largest organization of board-certified plastic surgeons. Representing more than 7,000 Member Surgeons, the Society is recognized as a leading authority and information source on aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. ASPS comprises more than 94 percent of all board-certified plastic surgeons in the United States.
“Our annual statistics serve as a snapshot regarding the plastic surgery industry“, said ASPS President Gregory Evans, MD.
According to the ASPS, these are the top 5 Cosmetic Minimally-Invasive Procedures performed, and all of these procedures are on the rise. These statistics show how many procedures were performed last year alone!
2012 vs. 2011
Botulinum toxin type A (6.1 million) up 8%
Soft tissue fillers (2 million) up 5%
Chemical peel (1.1 million) up 2%
Laser hair removal (1.1 million) up 4%
Microdermabrasion (974,000) up 8%
It will be interesting to see the new statistics for 2013.
The ASPS report shows that soft tissue fillers are the 2nd most popular minimally-invasive procedure performed by Plastic Surgeons. Up 5% from the previous year.
Medical professionals that would like to add dermal fillers to their practice, can learn how to inject dermal fillers from Cosmetic Surgeon Dolores Kent, M.D.
Dolores Kent, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. is a board-certified Harvard Medical School graduate, gynecologist and Cosmetic Surgeon, with over 20 years of experience.
Dr. Kent demonstrates how to perform popular cosmetic treatments using dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Radiesse and Restylane. She provides training through instructional online videos and DVDs and demonstrates how to use dermal fillers to achieve the cosmetic effects that clients are seeking.
As clients grow older, collagen production decreases and their skin begins to sag, create lines from hyperfunctional muscles, and show signs of damage from the sun, environment, and their lifestyles. Dermal fillers temporarily reverse the resulting lines by smoothing lines, filling wrinkles, improving volume loss, and correcting facial asymmetries.
Dr. Kent demonstrates dermal filler injection techniques for the cosmetic treatment of horizontal forehead lines, glabellar frown lines, crow’s feet, tear trough, nasolabial folds, vertical lip lines, marionette lines, lip definition, lip augmentation, chin lines, mentalis, scars, and asymmetry.
Dr. Kent also explains product options, dermal depth, contraindications and precautions, and injection guidelines.
