Learn How To Incorporate Reiki in Your Massage Therapy Treatments
0You can incorporate Reiki in your massage therapy treatments to benefit your clients. The term “Reiki” breaks down into two parts. “Rei” roughly translates into “Universal” and “Ki” into “Life Force Energy” (or, as some call it: God, Buddha, Chi, Qi, Prana, etc.).
So, Reiki means “universal life force energy”.
Reiki is “life force energy.” It’s what flows through us. It’s what makes us all alive. It’s the breath that we take. Everything has a life force.
It makes sense if your “life force energy” is low, then you going to be more prone to being stressed out, getting ill. If your life force energy is high, you’re going to be happier and healthy.
This energy also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. Within us, it flows through pathways called chakras. It nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions.
Scientific research confirms that all tissues and organs produce specific magnetic pulsations, which have come to be known as bio-magnetic fields.
When this flow of life force is disrupted by stress or injury, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body. Reiki clears those pathways, so the life force can flow freely.
Reiki acknowledges the spiritual aspect of life force, it’s the interaction between the physical and spiritual.
However, while we use terms like “spiritual”, Reiki shouldn’t be confused with religion. There are no set group of beliefs or theology. You can bring your own religious understanding to it or none at all. However, we believe we should practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are universal across all cultures.
In practice, Reiki involves placing hands on the body (yourself or someone else) at the chakra points. The channeling of energy automatically starts. Symbols with specific healing frequencies are drawn and verbalized to boost the Reiki energy. The hands stay in position for a few minutes until you no longer feel heat or your intuition tells you to move on.
Some states require you to be a massage therapist to practice Reiki, and other states, just an ordained ministers’ license. It’s up to you, the practitioner to do the research in your state to find out the requirements.
